Our Spring Baby Petting Zoo Has Arrived!

We are so excited! Our farm is absolutely hopping! All the spring animals are being born on our ten-acre farm in the southwest valley. This year we have lambs, goats, bunnies, ducks, and chicks. And they are all super cute!

Welcome to the World

A Child’s Joy Spring Baby Petting ZooWhile our regular petting zoo is available year round, these baby animals will not be babies for very long. They are only available between February and April!

We have been breeding and raising hand-tamed, farm animals specifically for our petting zoos since 1990. It’s amazing how time flies! One of the things that really sets us apart is the fact that we raise our own animals and own our own equipment! We really are a one stop shop for all things awesome!

Our animals have been bred for generations from our very best animals. They’re introduced into our petting zoo as babies and as soon as they are old enough to travel, they join us on the road for our spring baby petting zoo. Since they acclimate to children from such an early age, they’re docile and very gentle. We promise!

They can be hand-fed, brushed, held, hugged, and loved! And they love every minute of it! It is such fun, every spring to introduce these sweet little animals to all of you! Don’t forget to bring your camera. You will want lots of pictures with your kids and these little ducks, chicks, goats, bunnies, and lambs!

Oh the Places We’ll Go!

We make it our business to help you create lasting memories.

Book your Baby Animal Petting Zoo today! At $195 per hour, it’s a great way to entertain at HOA picnics, shopping center openings, block parties, and school or church carnivals. But, don’t wait. They grow up so fast!

Our hands-on lesson includes over a dozen types of species and breeds. The lessons have been created by teachers and include demonstrations, questions, and answers, plus supervised hands-on time with the animals.

There are several baby animal tours to choose from and each of our babies have been hand raised, on a real farm. Hand raising our babies give us the upper advantage, because they are familiar with human contact and love the attention!

YA Child’s Joy Animal Awareness Program Chicksou are welcome to add larger animals, like a calf or pony, to an outdoor venue, for petting or pictures, too! The best part is all the wonderful pictures you, as the parent, are able to snap!

Interactive Inflatable Games: Suitable for Work?

Of course they are! We’ve been talking an awful lot about team building exercises, because we have so much fun putting on the craziest corporate events all year long.

Our other favorite event is school field days. Physical activity is so important to a child’s growth and self esteem. Kids with a healthy self-esteem are more likely to handle their emotions and frustrations in a healthy way, by offering help to others, asking for help when they really need it, and trying new things. Don’t you wish more adults were this way? Maybe we can change all that!

We Encourage Playtime!

A Child’s Joy Home Run DerbyPlaytime is a great thing! It encourages creativity and communication as well as teamwork and flexibility. These are life lessons we will carry with us for the rest of our lives. But, sometimes we need a little reminder… hence, the corporate team building activities! Right?

We work with groups of all ages, both large and small. And we firmly believe that you are never too old for a bounce house! It’ll bring out the kid in you and your team will never be the same, again! In a good way. I mean, afternoons spent with us will create memories that last a lifetime.

Imagine a few years down the road, your students (or coworkers) will still be laughing about the day that Johnny made it through the obstacle course completely unscathed. You never know what an afternoon of shenanigans at the office or on the playground will cultivate in the future.A Child’s Joy Bungee Challenge

Team Building Exercises: Do They Work?

We spend a lot of time helping others plan their parties and corporate events. I thought today’s post should be dedicated to why these events are so important.

For example, corporate team building activities; are they just a lame excuse to get out of the office for a little while? Or, can they actually help establish a more cohesive team in the long run?

I’ve been doing some digging and I realize that as helpful as these exercises are intended to be, they are often carried out in a misguided way.

It’s important to have a proper feel for exactly what you want to gain from your team building activity, so here are three questions you can ask yourself to achieve that.

3 Questions to ask yourself:

  1. What are my expectations for this activity… and for my team?
  2. Have I communicated clearly why this activity is important?
  3. Is everyone on board?

Maybe team building exercises fail because we have not communicated exactly what we expect or want, clearly. Maybe they fail because everyone on the team has a different expectation and a different level of commitment to the activity.

Let’s face it, when most people hear “team building” they think of trust falls. It doesn’t have to be that way!

A Child’s Joy Trust Fall

Breaking the Ice

Sometimes, your team just needs a little break and a chance to get to know each other better. To help with that, we found a great list of funny icebreaker questions. Other times, it’s best to schedule a longer period of time away from the office to focus on teamwork and communication, without the distractions of ringing phones and email notifications.

This is our specialty! We are more than just bounce houses and pony rides. We can do all kinds of things to help make your team building activities become more successful. Check out our interactive inflatable games, they have been going out of here like crazy and work well for indoor or outdoor placement.

Something else our clients have been raving about is when we recently set up our “Pop-a-Shot” basketball game inside the lobby of a bank building!

Join in the Fun

Whether it’s a weekend corporate retreat or a fun friday afternoon, let us help you plan your best team building exercises ever! You will be so glad you did. And your co-workers will be talking about it for years to come…in a good way, of course!

Special Olympics Field Day

Here at A Child’s Joy, we absolutely love being involved in our community. Every year, sometimes twice a year, a guy named Jesse calls us up to order a dunk tank for his event. He organizes the Special Olympics for Arizona and we not only value his business, but look forward to his event every year!

Jesse is a pretty busy guy but, we were lucky enough to get a quick interview with him, check it out!

Meet Jesse

How long have you worked with the Special Olympics and what do you do specifically?

“I have worked for Special Olympics Arizona for three years now and I am the Healthy Athletes Coordinator.”

Healthy Athletes work to improve access to health care for Special Olympics Arizona athletes, through event based screening. Special Olympics Arizona currently offer health screenings in Podiatry, Physical Therapy, Health Promotion (Health and Wellness), Sports Physicals, Optometry, Audiology, and Sports Psychology.

Healthy Athletes also make referrals to local health practitioners when appropriate, as well as train healthcare professionals and students about the needs and care of people with intellectual disabilities. All this data is collected and analyzed to improve health policies and programs for people with intellectual disabilities.

What is the best thing about your job?The best thing about my job is that I am making a difference in these athletes lives by improving their health.”

A Child’s Joy Dunk TankDescribe the event that you use A Child’s Joy dunk tanks for… I use the dunk tanks to entertain athletes at my screening’s, where Special Olympics Arizona staff and key volunteers are dunked. It’s really fun.”

Who doesn’t like to watch someone get dunked?!

Get Involved

We believe it’s really important to give back to your community. The Special Olympics is a great cause and we are proud to be a part of it. If you are looking for ways to be more involved, visit the Special Olympics website. They are always on the lookout for stellar volunteers such as yourself!

A Party For Every Little Buckaroo!

Howdy Partners! Or should we say parents and party throwers?

Does your little one have visions of pony rides for his next birthday party? Or maybe she just never takes off her sweet little pink cowgirl boots.  Either way, we have you covered because we love to help you throw a themed party!

A Party With All the Trimmings

With so many ideas to choose from, it can be hard to know where to get started. Sometimes it’s best to start with a color theme… You can go the traditional route with red and blue bandana colors or for a little girl maybe turquoise and pink is more fitting.

A Child’s Joy Round Up
There are no wrong answers here! Just keep your colors consistent throughout, and you will look like the most organized party planner on the block.

So, napkins, cups, utensils, and plates should all match or at least coordinate with your chosen color scheme.

Next comes accessories. Think hay bales, hats, bandanas, and maybe even a chuck wagon! You could do a gold rush theme and use popcorn as the gold! Serve it in pie tins for a more authentic feel.

Or, for a more feminine cowgirl party, go with hay bales, ribbons, and a stable set for taking pictures. Maybe add an old radio flyer wagon for fun. Remember those?

Whatever You Decided, We’ve Got You Covered

Some of our favorite childhood pictures are of our kids riding ponies for their birthdays. We have so much fun recreating that for your children!

Here at A Child’s Joy, we have all the supplies you could need for a memorable party for your little one! Don’t forget to ask us about our hats, bandanas and pony rides! What kid doesn’t love pony rides?  We also offer several different cowboy/girl themed bounce houses, plus concession stand foods like: cotton candy, popcorn, snow cones, and hot dog rollers. That sounds like an awesome party recipe to us!

What are you waiting for? It’s time to circle the wagons! We’ve got a party to plan!

How to Plan Your Next Company Picnic

Here at A Child’s Joy, we are really looking forward to spring. With spring comes company picnic season!

We have tons of experience with pulling off a fun company picnic and thought we’d share some advice, just in case this sort of planning has been delegated to you this year!

Plan Ahead

Seriously, planning an outing for an entire company takes lots of prep work. The hardest part might be finding a date that works for everyone. So, build a committee of helpers and open up your calendars. Stay away from dates that land on national or religious holiday or during times of the year when most of your staff is away on vacation.

Also, when choosing a venue, knowing your event date well in advance means that you won’t be scrambling for a location at the last minute or squeezing everyone into a place that is too small because it’s the only place available.

Get Organized for Fun

Determining a budget and dividing up the work will save you from blowing up all the balloons by yourself while BBQing at the same time!

When setting up your budget, there are lots of things to consider. Here are a few things that  we recommend you always include at your company picnic:

  • Food
  • Drinks
  • Games
  • Entertainment
  • Prizes
  • Giveaways
  • Drinks

Figure out the head count. Is this an employee only event? Are families invited?
You are looking for a good estimate here, so that you can budget correctly for food, beverages, party favors and prizes.

A Child’s Joy Dunktank

The main goal of a company picnic is to have fun! But planning for all the fun… not so much!

If organizing parties isn’t totally your thing, we would love to help you! Give us a call to get at least one part of that planning off your plate.
